(No Resolutions Required)

This week doesn’t belong to the old year.
And it doesn’t really belong to the new one either.

It’s the quiet space in between — where the snacks are leftover, the calendar feels fake, and time moves a little sideways. You might wake up unsure what day it is. You might still be tired, even though you technically had “time off.” You might feel oddly emotional for no clear reason.

Gene understands.

This week isn’t for reinventing yourself.
It’s not for big goals, fresh starts, or dramatic declarations about who you’re going to be “from now on.”

This week is for landing.

For letting your nervous system catch up.
For sitting down without explaining why.
For existing without optimizing.

If you’re feeling unmotivated, that’s not failure — that’s your body saying, “Thank you for surviving the year. May I please lie down now?”

You don’t need a reset button.
You’re not broken.
You don’t need to become a new version of yourself by January 1.

Gene would like to gently remind you of a few things:

You are allowed to drift a little right now.
You are allowed to enjoy the quiet without filling it.
You are allowed to not know what comes next yet.

This week exists outside of productivity.  It’s a pause. A buffer. A soft landing strip.

Some people feel reflective this week.
Some people feel blank.
Some people feel everything all at once.

All of those are normal.

If you want to do something gentle — optional, not required — Gene offers these ideas:

  • Drink water before assuming something is wrong

  • Sit somewhere comfortable and do nothing for two full minutes

  • Watch something you’ve already seen

  • Eat a snack without multitasking

  • Put on something cozy even if you’re staying home

That’s it. That’s the list.

There is no pressure to “set intentions.”
There is no obligation to look ahead.
There is no prize for starting early.

January will arrive whether you prepare for it or not.

And when it does, you’ll still be you.  You can carry everything you learned, everything you endured, and everything that quietly helped you get through the year.

You don’t have to rush toward the future.
It will meet you when you’re ready.

For now, it’s enough to rest.
It’s enough to breathe.
It’s enough to be here.

Gene is proud of you for making it this far.
And he hopes you give yourself permission to take this week exactly as it is.

Unbothered.
Unrushed.
Still worthy of softness.
